THE TOWN
IMDB score 7.7/10
Directed by and starring Ben Affleck, this is both an excellent piece of drama and a visceral action experience. Other faces you will recognise are Jeremy Renner from the hurt locker and Rebecca Hall who has appeared in many successful films. The film surrounds Affleck’s character as he robs a bank in one of many crazy get ups and falls in love with one of the women in the bank. He builds a relationship with her and continues to rob banks with his gang. His best friend and gang member finds out…

Frost/Nixon
IMDB 7.9/10
Stars Michael sheen that is instantly recognisable due to his long and outstanding film career. There are lots of other well known faces in this one. It’s about David frost and ex-president Nixon. It’s a dramatic retelling of history where TV presenter frost interviewed the unflinching Nixon and attempted to uncover the truth about Watergate.

THE ROAD
IMDB 7.4/10
A cast of well established actors whom some may recognise. This is a film is a
post-apocalyptic tale of a man and his son trying to survive by any means possible. Has some very tense moments and although not an action fest, there is just enough there to keep you satisfied. The film shows a very real world in which you are fixated on the main characters as they battle on. Definitely a superb peace of drama which fits well under the thriller bracket. If you’ve ever played fallout then this will resonate well.

Romance 2011

I’ve seen you on your facebook
And I must say you are attractive
You’ve given me a sly look
But also have the masses
To type one word, And then press send
Would surely be too far
If only you could read my note
And tell me tongue in cheek
I’ve seen your message on my screen
It made me feel unwell
Until I saw the ending
Of no-one shall I tell
Those words are mine
And these are yours
I would love to see you soon
Because if you speak as is spoken
You will be my summers june

Driving Me Mad

I passed my driving test recently and theres two things I’ve noticed. one, everybody asks how your drivings going despite the fact you've passed and no longer have to prove you can drive a car and the second is that people suddenly turn on you. the second you lose the L you get the bird. nothing you do on the road is going to make any other driver happy. you let someone through and the person behind sits there going "why's this egit letting that car through, can't he see I have to get home to beat the wife" my dad said that once you've passed they "don't know you from adam"... "I thought your name was steve?"... they don't know you from adam, as if it would make a difference "hold on lads, let him through, this ones from adam... in your own time sire... please the roundabout is now free for you to access... go forth and drive."

I failed my driving test first time. I wouldn't mind but it’s not even like I killed her, only a broken hip and I’m sure by the way she was holding that walking stick it was broken anyway. The granny bitch really did make a meal of it; she went down like she was trying to win a penalty. The driving instructor didn't help any, screaming into his test pad... its not like it was much blood and most of it was hers. Silly cow crossing the road with all that shopping... it was an accident waiting to happen. Apparently it wasn't even the fact I hit her that he failed me for, but when I drove off and hit the curb doing the 3 point turn.

How didn't I get an A?

Lost World

So here I am in Salford
A land that time forgot
Santa dare not come here
For fear he might be shot
It could have been so different
Had fate been just and so
But as ever it was cruel
I’m in a place I shouldn’t know
My life is here in Salford
Where the chavs roam free and wild
Not all of them are bad
Most are burdened with a child
In a flat towards the heavens
Looked down on by the dead
This topsy turvey world
The clever, they have fled
My stay is long and painful
But success shall soon be mine
And should I be a wonder
Salford will become my shrine

A Glimpse of Heaven

The wind dare whisper
The sun dare show
Your beauty near forgotten
I’ll never let you go

I treasure that moment
I grip it with emotion
For if I were to sink
Into my loving and devotion

Knowing you where there
At least in heart and mind
Will see me through the days
That darkness left dehind

I Hope that you are reading
And feeling what I feel
If its not quite sinking
Then maybe its not real

My Seasonal Friend

Laughter cries upon a stolen summers day
A winters discontent throws its misery this way
Your friendship is a curse
Of which I hope it always stays
Because without your climate changing
Mine would stay the same

Gone is the Moment

Since I was ten
I knew then
That you would be my girl

Then I grew old
And with pain untold
You ran out of my world

I did not cry
But pain I felt
As you came and told me so

You one day would have loved me
But now
It is
A
No

Heartfelt Secret

How could I know
Everybody says I should know
Life seems empty without knowing
Even the milkman knows
Not me though, I don’t know
God only knows
Others also know
Only I do not know
Under all my might
The world is empty
Without knowing
I don’t want to know
Tell me I don't
Hold my hand
Make me see
Envelop me with knowledge

Exclusive Interview

left- Assistant right-Ditchfield
Today, dodd.blog had the privilege of being able to sit down and talk with professor Ditchfield from custard dream. Professor Ditchfield has been working on research into all things custard cream.

Hi Sam, you recently started a blog about custard creams. Can you tell us why you are so fascinated by them?
I am fascinated with custard creams because of their price and taste. Before university I had just thought of them as boring plain biscuits, but how wrong I was!!

How long have you been an admirer of the custard cream?
As I have said I have been a big admirer since probably the beginning of 2011. When I look back at 2011 I will look back with fond memories. It was the year I finally became a man.

What drink goes best with a custard cream?
Milk goes excellently, I have never tried them with flavoured milk, but I imagine they’d be nice. I have tried with vanilla flavoured protein shake. It wasn’t very nice. Other recommended drinks are tea, coffee and hot chocolate. But personally, for me, any drink just ruins the taste of the biscuit
Da Silva twins

Do you know if there are any celebrity custard cream fans?
I have been reliably informed Pete Doherty is a custard cream fan. Rumours are that the Da Silva twins are big ambassadors of a very similar biscuit called “el custardo creamo” back in Brazil.
Pete Doherty Biscuit Addiction

If there weren’t custard creams, which biscuit would be your biscuit of choice?
I recently dabbled in the dark side; I was doing bourbons behind custard creams back. Never again though. That shit sends you crazy. From now on its custard or nothing

A not so lovely days shopping

Oozing Class
I checked my fridge this morning and shock horror, there was nothing in. So I whipped out my wallet and bounced on down to the “Salford shopping city.”

I have a have a problem with the name having now experience the Salford shopping city. Yes, it’s in Salford. Yes, there are a few shops. BUT NO WAY is it a city! It’s got a Tesco metro an Iceland and a few pound shops, that’s not even enough to be a shopping centre, let alone a shopping “city”

yeh but, no but
chicken nuggets

Looking past the obvious naming error, I started my search for food in Iceland. I quickly became aware of some disturbing things. The first thing I noticed was how fat everybody was. Not only were they fat, but they were all very immobile. This made it difficult to traverse the narrow Iceland isles. It was almost reminiscent of playing asteroids, in fact a better analogy would be Mario galaxy, the only way to get around was to walk along the planet like Icelanders… The second thing I noticed was the general dress sense of the average Iceland customer, shell suits all round, except it wasn’t, unfortunately. In what world does a 50 something year old woman wake up, look in the mirror (to which she must stand considerably far back In order to see herself fully) and think “I‘ll wear this sexy little number.” this made me realise how difficult it is to shop for food when you’ve lost your appetite. I quickly bought what I had and left without a moment’s hesitation.

Salford shopping citys tesco
I resumed my shopping at Tesco. There was certainly a higher class of customer. I believe this is because the opening isles are fruit and veg, something alien to those in Iceland. I noticed that Ben and jerry’s ice cream was on offer, half price. I know I shouldn’t but I did, I bought one... Pish food variety of course, no other comes close. My basket soon filled and that was sign enough to stop there.

I paid up and had off. Operation buy food, complete.

Sorry Cheryl, I've got a new favourite

Transformed
News just in, Cheryl Cole is now only the 12th sexiest woman on the planet. Being a single man, the FHM 100 sexiest women list is something to which I pay close attention, even if it is comparable to a tramp in a Bentley garage.

The winner this year is transformers new addition,
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, a super model by trade. A blond bombshell, She certainly doesn’t look out of place in the 1st spot but what’s most disappointing, is that she’s a taken lady. Action man Jason Statham has bagged this beauty.

Olivia Wilde - Tron Star

So what about the rest of the top 10? There are some very notable names on there such as Katy Perry, Rihanna and Megan fox. But there are some names that are less well known.

5th place is Olivia Wilde, who has starred in films Tron Legacy and next three days and will soon be seen in cowboys & aliens with James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, and Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford. So clearly she has a bright future.

6th place Brooklyn Decker is another model turned actress and will soon appear in Battleship with Irish giant Liam Neeson.

7th place Marisa miller may try and call herself an actress, but she has yet to actually act… so let’s stick with calling her a supermodel.

Previous Winner
10th place Irina Shayk is a super model whose most notable claim to fame is being Christiano “jammy bastard” Ronaldo’s missus.

FHM 100 sexiest women in the world - Top 10
1. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
2. Katy Perry
3. Rihanna
4. Megan Fox
5. Olivia Wilde
6. Brooklyn Decker
7. Marisa Miller
8. Kelly Brook
9. Nicole Scherzinger
10. Irina Shayk

As you can see, Cheryl Cole, previous winner for the past two years is absent from the top 10. I’m sure she’ll not be too upset and will most probably make a return next year. If you’re feeling down Cheryl, I could always come round and show you how beautiful you still are.

Who do you think should have won?
